Intense E-Pro 8 Competition

On Tuesday 27th June, 8 schools met for a competition at Kaiapoi North for an E-Pro 8 challenge. The challenge lasted 2 and a half hours, there were 4 challenges to complete. Those four challenges were pendulum clock, rat trap, thunder storm and car wash during this you would be completing a challenge to create. For example, working clock or a car wash to clean a car.

When our team arrived we got into our group’s and then Kelvin the instructor/ judge taught us how to use the equipment and then we chose our challenge we wanted to create, we chose a Car wash then we begin to build a carwash  then decided to create a pendulum clock instead we started with the structure and then began to create the pulley system which is gears with rope which is connected to a weight. Then we made a pendulum which we had to have it swing at the right speed and it took us  a long time to get it right but then we got there eventually.

Pūtahi Uru School

This week at Belfast school students of room 21, 22, 23 were given a photo of the new school, Pūtahi Uru.  Then the teachers presented an app called HomeByMe to the students and we got to design a part of the new school on that app. But we already knew what all the rooms were so our job was to design and decorate them.  The new school is expected to be finished in the beginning of 2024. The new school being built will host the year 5-8 students of Belfast school.

The teachers are doing this because they wanted students from year 7 and 8 to get a say in what they want in the new school, like the chairs and desks they are most comfortable in.

Here is other people’s thoughts and opinions about the new school:

Aneurin said: “I’m excited about the new school”.

Natayla says: “I’m happy about the new school build”.

Melinda says “I won’t be going there since I’m a year 8 but it is very big.”

Billie says “ I was so cool  and I’m excited to be going there next year and it was very big.”

As you can see, the students are happy about the new school build, even if they’re not going to be there next year.

Jumping June

We have been learning to use the poly line tool on Google drawing to create our own images for Jumping June. I chose to create a heart because skipping and jumping is good for the heart. I also made a heart because we are raising money for the Heart Foundation. I hope you enjoy my blog post.
